About Our Church
ስለ ቤተ ክርስቲያናችን
A community of faith rooted in the ancient traditions of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church, serving God and our congregation with love, prayer, and the sacraments.
2,000 Years of Unbroken Faith
The Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church is one of the oldest Christian churches in the world. Christianity was brought to Ethiopia in the 4th century by St. Frumentius (Abba Selama), who was consecrated as the first Bishop of Ethiopia by St. Athanasius of Alexandria.
The word "Tewahedo" (ተዋሕዶ) means "being made one" in Ge'ez, referring to the church's belief in the one unified nature of Christ — a position known as miaphysitism. The church has maintained its apostolic succession and ancient traditions for over two millennia.
Our local parish was established to serve the Ethiopian Orthodox community in this area, providing a spiritual home where our faith, language, and culture are preserved and celebrated.
